Auction app design project
April - August 2021
Create an easy to use, transparent art/design auction platform to empower artists and designers to promote and sell their works online.

Why this project? To connect artists & art lovers.
Young artists and designers are looking for platforms to promote their works. But when it came to the auction market, they usually don't have the social and career capital to enter the scene. They lack of networks to set themselves to be successful in the early years of their career.

Young art lovers are interested in buying art works online and willing to enter the auction market, but they lack of a trustworthy party to moderate it. They feel the main stream auction is too much of a money game and they don't know how to get started.
Under this problem statement, I decided to create an online platform for artist, designer,s art buyers, as well as art galleries to connect with each other without much mysteries when it comes to buying arts online. At the end of this project, I will have a prototype to test out the product and this business idea.

What did I do?
First time being a UX researcher and designer, I am responsible in framing the scope of solution, conducting user research, designing wireframes and prototype, and eventually testing the prototype with real users in order to refine the solution.

How did I do it?
During my research, I conducted 5 (telephone) interviews with 1 contemporary artist, 1 designer, 2 potential buyers and 1 gallery employee. Due to the time constraint, I could not approach a wider range of interviewees. Therefore, I did take up the assumption that my interviewees represented a wider range of potential users of my platform. Most of them showed a positive attitude towards selling, buying, and participating art auction online.

Followed the guidance of Google UX design professional certificate program on Coursera, I conducted user search, drafted user personas, user journey, user task flow and used Figma to come up with the primary low fidelity prototype.
